When I was 21?

When I was twenty-one?
Hmm, that was so long ago.
I've been locked up all this time
There's not much point to know.
But now that you are asking
I believe I can remember.
That was the year I did it
On that dark night in December
My time in here has changed me
It has laid down some new tracks
For the best, it rearranged me
I wouldn't take it back.

  1. Thinking of a year as rearranging you is clever.

This poem is a little elusive, but I think I know what you're getting at.

  2. this poem reminds me of a johnny cash song. Maybe not Johnny Cash but it could be a country music song. I like the lack of remorse for what ever happened. I am not sure if the line "It has laid down some new tracks" fits. Everything else has a great stone cold feeling to it.
