The word boredom is used now quite loosely,
But I just can't condone its existence.
Information arises profusely
It's the root of all opportunistence.
If you're bored
You aren't trying.
In fact, the word Boredom should be synonymous with opportunity.
Humorous to use such a formal kind of poetry to address such an informal topic. I think the idea that you can go to your own mind to escape boredom is worth a poem (or 40). I wonder if you can complicate the idea a bit, though. More surprising language? Or, some suggestion that getting lost in one's own head is difficult/possibly-troubling.
ReplyDeleteGood Start.
Class? Ideas?

I really like this poem, it is easy to read and clever. I don't think all poetry has to be heavy and incredibly puzzling, and to be honest it is a nice break to not have to second guess every specific word like I do when reading Thomas Hardy. -KK
ReplyDeleteNicely put, Katie.
DeleteI like this poem, because boredom is something that everyone can relate to. The phrase, "mundane confine" is particularly descriptive. I agree with Katie's statement, that the poem was easy to read. Sometimes easier to read poetry is hard to find.
ReplyDeleteI like that the poem is straight forward. It's nice to read a poem without feeling like a detective looking for clues. I like that it's something everyone can relate to, but it's not too heavy.
ReplyDeleteI like this poem and I have to agree with Katie as well, I liked not having to second guess every word like Thomas Hardy's poems. I also like that the topic of boredom is something that we can all relate to.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a nice, light, joking sort of poem, but could really benefit from some more fluid and developed word choices. It's sort of a funny thing, writing about being bored, and i think you made it interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteI like this poem. I think that it could easily be turned into a singing and rhyming lesson to teach kids. I really like the line "It is not mapped and it has no sound"! I also like "I need excitement and i need it fast" It emphasizes the importance of mind stimulation.
